What is an Airman in PAF?
PAF airman, In the Pakistan Air Force, is a Uniform Employee of the lower scale. In the Airforce there are three categories of employees
• Officers (Scale 17 and above)
• Airmen (scale 5 to 16)
• Civilians (Those who don’t wear the uniform, and work as civilians, they are not foji) Their scale can be from 1 to 17. Mostly they are below 4 scales. That’s why we call them Class 4 staff.
What is Aero Trade in PAF?
Many people search on Google about the Aero trades in PAF. While others search for the meaning of aero trade in PAF.
AERO TRADE IN PAF include all the trades except MTD, Security (Provost and GC), Drill Instructor or PF & DI, Musician, and Sportsman. Aerotrade is the largest among all, and this include most of the vacancies, as it include multiple trades that work in Air Force.
The Aero Trades has two sub-departments.
- Aircraft
- Support
Accordingly, aero trades are divided in
- 1. Aero technician
- 2. Aero support
Aero Technician is further divided into 2 categories. Those are Air and ground. Air trades work on Aircraft and Ground trades work on ground equipment.

Avionics (Radar and Radio)
Aircraft Electricians
Engine mechanics
Weapon Mechanic
Air Frame (Aircraft Structure)
Duties:
Avionics Technician works on the Radio and radars of an aircraft.
Electricians work on the electrical and wiring systems.
Engine mechanics work on repairing and installing Aircraft engines. Weapon Technicians install bombs and missiles on Aircraft.
Airframe Technician works on the body, structure, wheels, and hydraulic systems.
Ground Trades are
Electricians
Radio and radar ground
Radar operator etc
Duties: These are Technicians but they work on Ground equipment, not the parts of Aircraft. They are technicians, but they are not related to Aircraft, so they are called Ground Trades.

Aero support
All other trades that support the technical department of PAF are called aero support.
Aero support comprises of following trades.
• Accountant ( Making salaries)
• IT/Computer assistants (work on the computer)
• Nursing staff
• Logistics (Receive and Dispatch supply)
• Clerk called sectt assistant
• MT driver
• Musician
• General Fitter (Machinist)
• Administration
• Educational Instructors
• Drill Instructors
• Ground signal
• Life-Saving Equipment Technician
• Firefighter
• Air traffic control
• Etc
Eligibility for aero trades:
Status: Unmarried Single
Matric Science with 60% Marks
Height: 5 feet 4 Inches
Age: 16 to 20 years

What is PF and DI in PAF?
PF&DI OR PF and DI stand for Physical Fitness and Drill Instructor. They conduct sports events and teach drills to cadets and trainee airmen. They are awarded the rank of Corporal Technician after completion of Training. PF & DI is one of the most respected trades in the Air Force.
What is the Salary of PF and DI?
The Salaries of PF and DI’s are similar to other trades in the Pakistan Air Force. Their Pay scale is relatively Lower than aero trades, and there might be a minor difference of 1 thousand or 1500 rupees in the same rank and service. For detailed Salaries, please see the Rank chart given below.
What is GC, and provost?
GC is the abbreviation of Ground combater. They perform security and guard duties. They protect the boundaries of the PAF.
Eligibility for GC and Provost:
Status: Unmarried Single
Matric Science with 50% Marks
Height: 5 feet 9 Inches
Age: 17 to 22 years
Provost:
Similar nature of duties, however, they are deployed on Gates. They control the entry and exit of PAF places. Their rank starts from Corporal Technician.
What is the security trade in PAF?
Now GC and Provost trades are merged and known as Security Trade.
PAF Airman Salary and Ranks
Sac (Senior Aircraft technician)
Scale: 5
Equivalent army Rank: Sepoy
When awarded: on completion of training
Salary: 30 Thousand plus
All salaries are in according to 2023 scale.
Junior Technician
Scale: 5-7
Equivalent army Rank: Lance Naik
When awarded: After 4 years of Service
Salary: 40 to 45Thousand
Corporal Technician
Scale: 8-10
Equivalent army Rank: Naik
When awarded: 8 Year service completion
Salary: 50 to 60 Thousand
Senior Technician
Scale: 11-12
Equivalent army Rank: Havildar
When awarded: 14 Year service
Salary: 70 to 80 Thousands
Chief Technician
Scale: 13-14
Equivalent army Rank: Chief Havildar or similar
When awarded: 19-year service
Salary: 90 Thousand
Assistant Warrant Officer
Scale: 14
Equivalent army Rank: Naib Subedar
When awarded: 22 Year Service
Salary: Around 1 Lakh Rupees
Warrant Officer
Scale: 15
Equivalent army Rank: Subedar
When awarded: 23 Year service
Salary: 1 Lakh Rupees and 5 Thousand
Chief warrant Officer
Scale: 16
Equivalent army Rank: Subedar Major
When awarded: 24 Year service
Salary: 1 Lakh and 20 Thousand
Total service of Airmen
25 year
19-year service pe b retirement mil jaati hay.

- Can not do two jobs at a time
- Can not go abroad on your own during service.

- Can not resign on your own
- Not allowed to apply in lower scales in civil services (Below 16 scale)

You can Apply for different posts in Pakistan air force, You are eligible for GDP, CAE, Logistic officer, Admin and Special duties. The best option for you is CAE. Please read this post for further details I am an FSc Passed Girl, How Can I Join Pak armed Forces?

Training k bad commission k liye apply kar sakty hen. Civil services k liye NOC is mandatory.

8 months ki Military training hoti hay. Jis me English, Math and Basics Subject b parhty hen Saath. Uskay baad Trade Training hoti hay, Jo k different trades ka Different hisab hota hay. Zyada tar Aero support trades ki 06 Months trade training hoti. Training Salary is Low, However after Passing out, The Salary is Good enough to take care of a Small Family.

Dear Fasih, It depends.. on different factors. If you are able to continue your Higher Education and Your Family support you, Then I will suggest to Get Hire Education first, You will have more opportunities in your life. Because, On the Matric basis, It is good option, However If you have Big dreams, to become an officer either in civil or army, Then you shouldn’t Join. Your Financial condition matters, If it is worst, You should Join, so atleast you start earning and support your own Family.

Dear, Final merit list for the selection of Aerotrades have been displayed across all Selection centres. You are requested to kindly check it. In case of selection, You will receive an sms or Call. If you are in the selected candidates, You will be called to selection centres for Documentation. Documentation is a lengthy process and It will take One day to fill the documents. After the Documentation, You will be given the Joining date for Pakistan air force. You have to report to Kohat or Karachi for military’s training.

The Minimum height required for aerotrades is 5 Feet 04 Inches. Maximum height is 6 Feet 03 Inches.

Dear Aamir, unfortunately Your physical height is 01 inch less than Required Physical height which is 5 feet and 04 inches. In Armed forces, there is no relaxation in height limits. Due to Less height, you are not eligible.
