Many aspirants who want to join the Pakistan Army as commissioned officers search and ask for any PMA Short course. This post will help you understand the courses of PMA and the confusion about it. Let first differentiate between PMA long course and the short course.
What is a PMA long course?
Pakistan army advertises for the PMA long course twice a year. FA / Fsc Passed candidates can apply for the PMA long course. After online registration, The candidate has to undergo Initial computerized tests, then a Medical examination, Physical Test and Interview. After clearing the First Stage, the Candidate is then directed for the ISSB examination which is a 4-5 day length personality examination. If a candidate is able to clear the ISSB exam, then He will undergo another extensive medical examination and will wait for the final merit list.
If a Candidate Passed All the stages mentioned above, then He is called for training at PMA (Pakistan Military Academy). The candidate will undergo TWO YEARS TRAINING and earn a 2-year bachelor’s degree. The 02 years long training is the longest at PMA, so it is called the PMA Long course. The graduates of the PMA long course are then commissioned officers who are divided and detailed into different fields Like aviation, Air defense, Artillery, infantry, special forces, and many more.

Then What is PMA Short Course?
Training other than PMA long courses that are less than 02 years is called the PMA Short course. However, Short courses are called Short service commissions or Direct service commissions. The Short courses are also called Graduate courses. The training period for the Short courses or Direct service commission is only 06 Months. That’s why it is called a short course. The Graduates of Short courses are then commissioned officers who are detailed in respective departments. Like if someone has applied in the education Corps, then He will act as a commission officer in the education branch of the Pakistan army. Similarly, there are other branches like a special branch, Engineering Branch etc
Is there any PMA short course available to Join the Pakistan army as a commissioned officer?
Yes, PMA short course which is called Direct service commission or short service commission in the Pakistan army receives less training than PMA long course which is Six months. Due to six months of training, the courses are called short courses/graduate courses.
Question: Is there any PMA long course for Females? or can female Join pma long course?
No, females can not join PMA long course. The course available for the females is the Lady cadet course. Lady cadet course is of 06 months duration. Please read details for the lady cadet course through this link

Dear sir i appeared in pma-145 long course and i failed in initial test! so please correct me i availed that chance or that chance is save? i want to ask because they put a stamp of pma-145 on backside of all my result cards.
There are 03 Chances of Initial tests if you failed the test. Now you have two chances remaining to appear in the initial test.
Does PMA short course have the same accadamic test and other tests such as a PMA Long course?
No Dear, Both Pma long course and short courses have different academic tests. PMA long course academic test include GK, Islmiyat, Pakistan studies and current affairs. While the Short Courses have Academic test based on their specialization. Similarly Army medical cadet and technical cadet both have different academic test Syllabus.
I have attempted two times initial test but couldn’t clear. What should I do to pass verbal nd non verbal.
You should work hard and learn how to solve verbal and nonverbal intelligence questions. Learn the different principles that involves in intelligence test questions. In sha Allah, You will overcome this time.
Can i join army after dong bachelors in media studies

Yes, Females Can Join Pakistan air force or Pakistan Navy as a Psychologist after completion of BS Psychology. At this Time Army is hiring only Male Psychologists, So Female can apply in PAF and Navy accordingly.
