How to Clear PMA Long Course Initial?

There are three types of tests in the initial stage.

1-Verbal
2-Non verbal
3-Academics

1. Verbal test preparation

There are a total of 84 questions on verbal intelligence. The time allotted for verbal intelligence is 30 minutes.

2. Non-Verbal

There are a total of 64 Non-verbal intelligence questions, the time allotted for the Non-verbal intelligence questions is 30 minutes

You have to attempt Both of these tests (Both verbal and non-verbal intelligence questions) at a time.
You will get results together for both. If you clear this test, then you will be able to attempt the next ACADEMIC test. If you get failed, then there are no more tests for you.

3- Academics

Academics consist of general knowledge. The test consists of the following types of questions.

• General Knowledge about the world
• General Knowledge about Pakistan
• Islamiyat Questions
• English
• General Math
• Pakistan studies

If you tick the right answer about 50%, then you will be passed.

The candidates declared successful in written/intelligence tests will undergo physical/ medical tests and interviews at Army Selection and Recruitment Centres (AS&RCs).

Physical Tests

The following criteria have been set for all candidates:-

• 1.6 Km Run – 8 minutes (3 Marks)
• Pull Ups – 3 repetitions in 2 minutes (2 Marks)
• Push Ups – 15 repetitions in 2 minutes (2 Marks)
• Crunches – 20 repetitions in 2 minutes (2 Marks)
• Ditch Crossing – 7.4 feet (1 Mark)

Passing all events as per the above table is mandatory for each candidate. A candidate failing in any 1 x event is considered a Physical Test (PT) failure and will not be given an Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB) form. Also, read All about Pak Army initial Physical test

Initial Interview

Candidates clearing written, Medical, and physical Tests are finally interviewed by S&ROs (instead of Brig by the formation) and Psychologists. Before the interview, every candidate required to write an essay of 10 lines in English and Urdu. Plain paper to be issued to candidates before an interview for Eng and Urdu essays. The topic of the Day will be reflected on the board in the exam hall /room. S&RO will write pointers for every candidate appearing in the interview. Each candidate is given marks out of 20. A candidate securing less than 12 marks is considered a failure and not be given the Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB) form.

• Expression and confidence in English and Urdu.
• Adequate Knowledge about current affairs.
• Adequate knowledge of Geo and Pak Studies.
• Overall outlook.
• Extracurricular activities include sports and hobbies.
• Any other aspect as deemed appropriate by the Panel.
