Topic 12: Military Planning in ISSB

Military planning is an ISSB task which asses the ability of candidates to carry out planning and execution of Military operation in form of small models or maps. This task is performed in group shape. The candidates are briefed about the tasks (an ambiguous situation on the map). The Task is done in a short interval of time for planning and execution. As changes in the ISSB are usual, Now the Military planning task is showed on multimedia and everybody have to make their planning accordingly.

What is the purpose of Military planning in ISSB?

The candidates will be observed by GTO / Observation officer during the task. The aim of the military planning task look for the following qualities in a candidate:

1. Candidates’ thinking ability while under pressure
2. His ability of doing team work
3. his communication skills
4. His ability to make wise decisions on the right way.

Furthermore, each candidate must express himself for the following qualities.

1. How do he/she will take the given tasks initiative?
2. Candidates’ leadership abilities
3. Candidates’ ability of taking decisions
4. Candidates’ confidence
5. Candidates’ ability of doing teamwork

There are few things that candidates have to do for the military planning tasks at ISSB.

1. They should introduce themselves with the principles of military planning. By using online resources candidates can learn about military planning.
2. By playing military strategy games or by participating in military planning exercises the candidates can practice military operations.
3. Candidates should have good communication skills for sharing their plans to others.
4. Although military planning task is a challenging one but it is also an opportunity to build their skills to demonstrate their abilities.

Candidates should have confident and relax to perform better activities. Here are some additional tips for preparing yourselves for the military planning task at ISSB:

1. Get a good night’s sleep and manage your time in ISSB days.
2. Eat breakfast and never miss it out.
3. Listen carefully to the instructions given by the GTO.
4. Ask questions if you do not understand something.
5. Learn how to be organized and efficient in your planning.
6. Communicate clearly with your team members.
7. Do practice to make decisions under pressure.
8. Stay calm and focused throughout the task.
