What are the Air force eyesight requirements?

Air force eyesight requirements for all posts

The eyesight requirements for the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) vary depending on the specific role or position. Generally, candidates must have at least 6/6 distant vision in one eye and 6/9 in the other eye, with or without glasses. However, there may be different requirements for pilots, navigators, and other roles.

Eyesight requirement for GDP

For GD pilots, the Pakistan Air Force has more stringent eyesight requirements to ensure that pilots have the visual acuity and depth perception necessary to fly safely. Pilots must have a distant visual acuity of 6/6 in each eye separately, and they must not be color blind. They may be allowed to wear glasses or contact lenses to correct their vision, but the use of laser eye surgery is not allowed.

In addition to meeting the visual acuity requirements, candidates for the PAF must also undergo a medical examination to ensure that they are in good health and free from any medical conditions that could affect their ability to perform their duties.

Eyesight requirements for Other than GDP

For candidates seeking to join the PAF, the minimum eyesight requirement is 6/6 distant vision in one eye or both eyes and 6/9 in the other eye, with or without glasses. Candidates who meet this requirement are eligible to apply for various non-pilot roles in the PAF, such as air traffic controllers, ground duty officers, engineers, and other technical positions in Aero trades (Airmen).

Candidates who do not meet the eyesight requirements may be disqualified from the application process or may be restricted to certain roles in the PAF. However, some candidates may be eligible for a waiver if they have a minor visual impairment that can be corrected with glasses or contact lenses. Waivers are granted on a case-by-case basis and depend on the severity and nature of the visual impairment.

In addition to meeting the eyesight requirements, candidates for the PAF must also undergo a comprehensive medical examination to ensure that they are in good health and free from any medical conditions that could affect their ability to perform their duties. This examination includes tests for cardiovascular health, respiratory function, hearing, and other medical conditions that could impact the candidate’s fitness for service.

    1. The GD Pilot posts are announced twice in a year for male candidates and these are announced occasionally for the female candidates. Generally, the female posts are announced for the GD pilot after a year. You might prepare yourself for the Feb-March 2024 posts.
