The ISSB (A Board of armed forces who selects leaders/officer for the armed forces) uses different psychological tests to evaluate the personality of the applying candidates. There are so many different tests conducted throughout the whole process of 04 days, which not only include the written but the practical as well. The purpose of using psychological tests in ISSB is to determine the abilities, mental health and the personality make up of the candidates. This post will help you to understand aout the pscyhological tests used by the ISSB board to evaluate the candidate’s personality.
Why Psychological Tests are used in ISSB?
The main purpose of the psychological tests is to assess the potential and abilities of the individuals taking part in the exams. Military needs individuals who are mature, exposed to different challanging situations, have patience and understanding, and who have good communication and decsion making skills, All these qualities and more are judged by the three officers, among which one is psychologist. The psychologist have their own way of jugding the personality through different psych tests, and The candidate appearing do not know, what is happening with him or her.
Types of Psychological Tests in ISSB
The ISSB Board uses different pscyhological tests to evaluate and judge the personality of a candidate. There are some projective as well as objective tests. I am explaining it one by one.
Projective Tests
The projective tests are those tests, in which candidate are shown ambiguis Tests, and then Candidates project their personality through their thoughts and written communications. Projective tests help to identify the potential qualities of a candidate. The projective tests used in ISSB Include the Word association test, Sentence Completion test, Picture story test, and Pointer story test. The picture story test is also called the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT). Through these tests candidate project there personality in a written form, and they have no choice but revealing their personality. There are some other tests which are used for cross-matching so one is not able to cheat. If someone try to project his or her personality very positive, but in actual, it is not, It will be revealed through other tests.

Group Dynamics Assessment or GTO Tasks
The personality of the candidates are not just evaluated through psychology tests, but in practical as well. The Candidates at ISSB undergo some group tasks in the form of small groups, comprised of Indoor and outdoor tasks. The ISSB candidates are observed through these tests for their communication skills and cooperation with their other team members. Cross checking through Interviews
The candiates are interviewed once, twice or thrice if needed. The Interviews are very important and it validates the findings of other tests through Psychologist and Group testing officer. The interviews infer real time information about the candidate and have significcant importance in the selection of a candidate.

The main purpose of psychological tests is to assess candidates’ abilities and mental skills. So it is better to not only prepare the psychological tests but improve and work on your personality through different activities.

Yes, They can apply whenever seats are announced. Unfortunately, these seats are announced after years and these are totally requirement based.
is there any chance thaf they will announce seats this yr ir the following one?

Yes, You can Apply, The eligibility criteria is at least 60% marka with less than 22 years of Age.
