I have Compiled all Frequently asked Questions Regarding Medical test in armed forces.
Q.Who examine Males and Females Candidates?
Ans.Privacy is ensured during the medical examination. Male candidates are examined by male medical officer and male nursing staff. Female candidates are examined by female medical officer and female nursing staff.
Q. Having Surgery in Past can Unfit us for Selection?
Ans.No. If you had any surgery in the past and now you are fine, with no loss of function, then you are fit for selection in the military.
Q. Is Tattoos are Unfit For Pakistan Army?
Ans.Yes. Tattoos are unfit for Pakistan army.
Q.Is Deliberate Harms unfit for Pak Army?
Ans.Yes. Any scars or cuts made by the person themselves, are unfit for army. This includes writing any letter or names or drawing on skin of forearm or anywhere in the body with a blade (or any object, resulting in permanent scar at the time of examination).
Please note, any scars due to any accident, or work related for example scars on the hands and arms of labours or during sports are not unfit. A person is fit if the scars are not due to any self inflicted harm.
Q.Is Varicose vein is Unfit for Pak Army?
Ans.Varicose vein is a condition in which the veins of the leg become engorged, especially when standing on toes.
Varicose vein is unfit for army if untreated. However a candidate can get them treated and then continue the medical process without being declared unfit.
If you have varicose veins issue then your examining medical officer will refer you to a general surgeon. The surgeon can declare you fit for Pakistan army after you get treated for them.
Q.Is Squint eyes are Unfit for Pakistan Army?
Ans.Yes. Squint is considered unfit for selection in Pakistan Army.
Q.Can i Join Pakistan Army with Knee Knocking?
Ans=No you can’t.You can consult a good orthopedic surgeon for corrective surgery or have to do exercises at least a year or more before you apply.
Knee knocking is not an absolute unfit for selection in military. There is a specific criteria and degree of knee knocking which is acceptable. Many people with regular knee knocking pass the medical fitness test.
Q.A person suffering with Piles/Haemorids are Eligible?
Ans=You cant pass the medical exam with piles, however if you get rid of them, you’ll get through.
Stage 1,2 is curable.
Q.What is eyesight requirement for Pak Army?
Ans=Well, -3.5 is on last verge criteria dear. Medically and in Army/PAF/Navy term, its called VS 3. but more than this is not acceptable in any course.(not for GDP Candidates)
Weakness upto 2.5 is declared fit in Long Course if it can be corrected by wearing glasses.
Q.What they check in dental exam??
Ans=Dental or more correctly oral exam will tell any local infection, any Gutka/ Supari/Pan/cigarette effects, any erosion or history of even cancer.well if there is just dental blackness (not due to death or necrosis) then consult your dentist before appearing.

Q.How they check knock knee??
Ans=It’s other way round. A simple way to check for knee-knocking is to stand straight, join your heals with your feet making a ‘V’ i.e. your toes are pointing outwards – dont open them too much, just as you would stand normally, now if the inner side of your knees touch each other, you have a problem. But nothing to worry about, even a very little gap between the (inner) knees would do.
Q.Does DNS effect on selection or not?
Ans=DNS operation will have no effect on your selection. They even tell you to have DNS operation if it is observed during the medical and then you can re-appear for the tests.
Q.What is Eyesight standard in Army?
Ans=Here is the standard requirement for Pakistan Army.
(1) Distant Vision With glasses 6/9, 6/12
(2) Near Vision J2, J7 or N8, N12 with or without glasses
Q.What is Eligible carrying angle of arms for Armed Forces?
Ans=5-18 degree is normal limit, 1 degree relaxation maybe given, depends on the doctor, but its rare.
a.CP-1 is the normal level for the color blindness test. However, i have seen a candidate with CP-2 declared fit… If the RMO/DMO at the selection raises a doubt over your eyes issues, he’ll refer you to eye specialicist.
b. PAF will give relaxation up-to 5 kg’s overweight in medicals.
Q. Is there any height Relaxation in Pak Army?
Ans.No. Minimum height criteria for every selection type and category is fixed. For example clerks get a waiver in height which is mentioned in the selection requirements. However no waiver can be given beyond the publicly announced selection requirements for that selection category.
Q.Is large carrying angle is unfit for Selection?
Ans.Yes. The carrying angle beyond a specific angle as per guidelines is unfit for selection in Army. However you should still apply and ask the medical officer at your nearest medical officer if your elbow’s carrying angle is beyond the allowed limit or not.
Q.What is the weight Requirement for Pakistan Army?
Ans.Weight is calculated based on BMI. Up to 25 BMI is acceptable. Overweight or obese people are unfit in Army. However the medical officer can give the candidate time to reduce the weight if he finds it to be in a certain allowed limit and then ask him to report back.
Q. Is that true we have to get Naked during Medical Examinations?
Ans.Yes. The requirements of the medical examination require the person to completely undress for the medical examination.
Q. Why we Bend and asked to Cough During Medicals?
Ans.Bend test with cough is used to detect Piles and hernia.
Q. Is Flat Foot is unfit for Pakistan Army?
A.Yes. Flat foot is unfit for selection in Pakistan Army.
Q. What is procedure of Appeal Medical Board (AMB)?
Ans A candidate if declared unfit by CMB can apply for AMB within Four weeks after the declaration of medical result and he has to write application to Assistant Chief of Air Staff (T-O).
Q. Any waiver in height for GD (P) and CAE candidates in PAF?
Ans Height criterion for male and female candidates of GD (P) branch is 5 feet 4 inch (163cm) whereas for ground branches it is 5 feet 4 inch for male and 4 feet 10 inch for female. Upto 17 years 4cm and upto 19 years 2.5 cm waiver in lower limit is granted. Beyond 19 years of age, no relaxation in lower height limit. The upper height limit is 188cm. A waiver of 2.5cm is granted in upper height limit. A waiver of 2.5cm is granted in upper height limit.
Q.What is Appeal Medical Board and what is the process?
Ans#Candidate who apply against the decision of their Medical, they should forwarded a request to Recruitment Directorate for arranging an Appeal Medical Board to reassess the verdict of their Medical Unfitness. Recruitment Directorate will further process the case with Medical Directorate for arranging their Appeal Medical Board. Appeal Medical Board will be held at CMH Rawalpindi only.
Q.I am not satisfied with final Medical result as being declared UNFIT. How can I challenge the decision?
Ans.You may apply for Appeal Medical Board. You have to appear before a team of medical officers who will give final decision regarding medical fitness or otherwise. Further details may be asked by contacting Recruitment Directorate on 051-20062370-74.
Q. What should be the position of testicles?
Ans=Some curvature of the penis to either side is usually normal. The left testicle usually hangs lower than the right one normally.
You may not have anything to worry about, but a proper medical checkup is the best way to go.

You strip they grab your balls may ask you to cough it is to check hernia then they ask you to turn around and bend over to check that you don’t have piles or something and that’s it.
It’s nothing to worry about its all done really quickly and professionally, you will be done in an instant
Q.In case of variocele what happens?
Ans=Varicocele, they might declared you TUF (temporary Unfit) and asked you to have operation for that and reappear in next batch… but all it depends on degree and severity of varicocele. if it is more sever, then they might declared you PU (permanently unfit) better you get opinion from some doctor before appearing in.
Q.Can someone with gynaecomastia join the army?
Ans.Most probably not, get a surgery before applying

You should wait for medical treatment. Apply for the course and if they found any discrepancy, they will refer you dental surgeon. This is a small issue and you should not worry about it.

Dear, You will be referred to concerned specialist doctor and he will exam and might recommend surgery. The surgery is safe and you can get fit after doing the surgery.
It might also depend upon your varicocele condition, If it is not severe and not caused any damage to the testicles. It is better to apply in PMA long course, and you will be checked by the medical doctor, If the doctor is unsatisfactory he will refer to specialist doctor. The specialist doctor will suggest a surgery (Most probable) and you will be declared fit after that. Surgery is beneficial for you, as it will not affect your sperm production and will not lead to male infertility. It is best to consult the specialist doctor after your initial medical test.

Dear Abdullah, if you are taking antidepressants drugs… It will be detcted by the issb staff in your psych test as well as Interview. So I think, It is very hard to get recommended for you at this stage. Ultimately, Your Blood Test also reveal Your past history of drugs.

Yes Waniya, After completing your MCS you can apply in all three armed forces. Anyone with MCS degree can apply in Navy, air force and Pak Army, eligible in All. If your age is within age limit, there will be no issue for you.
I previously had external piles (a few months ago) but now it has shrunk and I don’t have any pain (or any other issue) with it. But it has left behind small SKIN TAG (i.e. extra skin) which can be felt outside the anus opening. But, as I have mentioned, it does not cause any pain. Will I pass the PAF initial medical test? Dear Fareed ahmed, Color blind condition is medically un-fit for armed forces. If the specialist doctor declare you un-fit, its mean you are color blind. You should not worry, and keep your aim bigger. There are a lot of opportunities, life will provide apart from armed forces. Please explore them.

Dear Malik Arslan, You can apply for the Psychologist posts when announced by the three armed forces. There are limited seats for Psychologists as the Field is a Growing one. You are Lucky in the sense, that There are few Male Psychologist as compared to Female Psychologists and the armed forces hire Male Psychologist regularly.i.e Each year. The process is almost similar in the three armed forces.
